I haven’t actually bought any thing from you yet, but you were once very helpful in helping me decide to by a philosopherstone. At the time you didn’t have any in stock, then i was cruising trademe and there was one for sale second hand so i grabbed it and itIronically it was one that had been bought from you but was now surplice to the original owner.. cool for me.
I will hopefully be geting a voodoo power supply from you in the near future, and the switcher is also a tad tempting…
1. is bit to pricy some of the pedals, but other than that is pretty good
2. you had great selection of pedals that i wanted specialy the xotic pedals, pigtronix they are great:)
3. website are perfect:)
4. good customer service, you actually reply my call that’s fantastic
5. maybe if you could lower the price
thank you john
1) Pricing. Are you happy with it?
- Yes
2) Product offering? Are there any brands or specific items of gear you wish I had?
- No
3) Website. Is it easy to navigate? Speed to load okay?
- All good.
4) Customer Service? Are you happy with the speed of reply and the quality of information?
- Happy with product service but was slightly miffed by remarks afterwards.
5) Any other feedback you want to give
- No
1) Pricing. Are you happy with it?
I think that a fair amount of gear is overpriced, such as the xotic stuff and MI Audio gear. It’s not low enough that I’d be persuaded not to go offshore; I’m not expecting complete price matching but it’s not competitive at all. I like to give my money to local businesses so I factor in shipping + gst, but if it’s more than that I’ll just go to Tonefactor. If it’s within the shipping + gst, I’ll go local.
2) Product offering? Are there any brands or specific items of gear you wish I had?
Barber pedals are inexpensive and excellent, maybe fulltone. Would love to seem either or both stocked
3) Website. Is it easy to navigate? Speed to load okay?
Great website, classy, easy to navigate and fast.
4) Customer Service? Are you happy with the speed of reply and the quality of information?
Yes, very fast, good service, would be happy to recommend to others
I’ve purchased a few items off Trueman, including a Voodoo Labs PedalPower 2+. John has a great range of gear, a lot of which has been very hard to find in the past, so it’s nice to have some boutique-y gear readily available at reasonable prices.
His customer service is consistently excellent and he’s a nice guy to boot.
1) Pricing. Are you happy with it?
- Yes if its not more expensive than overseas websites. If i factor in exchange rate and shipping, and its still cheaper then ill always go local.
2) Product offering? Are there any brands or specific items of gear you wish I had?
- Analogman would be a great addition to your lineup.
3) Website. Is it easy to navigate? Speed to load okay?
-Website is very clean and easy to navigate. However please change the font colour as its very hard to see light grey against dark grey.
4) Customer Service? Are you happy with the speed of reply and the quality of information?
-More than enough information and speed of reply. Wouldn’t hurt to be a little more personable in writing :)
5) Any other feedback you want to give
- Excellent job so far, although it would be nice to have a Chorus pedal section.

For a long time the boutique pedal market has been grossly under-represented in New Zealand. The last few years have seen various businesses start to stock (or claim to stock) ‘Boutique’ lines of pedals. Over time I’ve dealt with most of them, but Trueman Guitar Pedals alone continue to exceed my expectations in all aspects of customer service.
I have contacted John on a number of occasions for pricing details and various questions to do with pedal setup etc. And though many of my enquiries haven’t turned directly into a sale, he has always been happy to help me out in whatever way he can.
It’s getting more and more rare these days to find a salesperson whose passion for what he’s selling goes past what makes it into his back pocket. Big thumbs up to John for upholding a helpful nature in the face of perhaps the most eclectic customer base of all: Guitarists/Bass-Guitarists!
In short, dealing with Trueman Guitar Pedals has proven to be nothing short of a pleasure.
With an excellent line of well-priced, mouth-watering products, and helpful, super-quick service to boot, I see no reason to ever shop elsewhere in the future.
Cheers,
Matt Cross
1) Pricing. Are you happy with it?
I’ve yet to buy anything from you, but I am happy with the prices at which you offer things.
2) Product offering? Are there any brands or specific items of gear you wish I had?
I think you already do a nifty job of filling a hole in the market. I can’t think of anything that I particularly think you should stock.
3) Website. Is it easy to navigate? Speed to load okay?
The website is largely okay, but there are a couple of issues I’d address:
- The grey text on dark grey and black backgrounds looks stylish, but is hard to read even for someone with good eyesight. The lack of contrast will make it impossible for some people, especially when the text is also fairly small. See http://www.webaim.org/resources/contrastchecker/ for more.
- I would change your header colour to white so that your logo blends in more. It looks a little orphaned as it is, rather than smoothly integrating into the site.
- The text used for navigation in the header could be bigger and stand out more. It looks very clean, but it’s not in the first place that the eye looks for things on a web page, so needs to work harder to stand out, otherwise will be missed. There’s good stuff in there too that people will want, like Contact Us and Testimonials.
4) Customer Service? Are you happy with the speed of reply and the quality of information?
I think I’ve only ever made one enquiry, and it was dealt with swiftly and usefully.
5) Any other feedback you want to give
I think you’re on the right track website-wise, just need a few tweaks to make it easier for users to read.
1) Pricing. Are you happy with it?
As far as any consumer is ever happy with the price of things, but as far as local pricing VS off shore…even if the imported price plus GST and shipping is less than a local price, the fact of having the local dealer for warrantee purposes has to count for something!
2) Product offering? Are there any brands or specific items of gear you wish I had?
Prodoct wise, nothing specific off the top of my head, but the more the Merrier I say!
3) Website. Is it easy to navigate? Speed to load okay?
It’s one of the better websites I visit regularly, and using a computer via speech software means the slightest over crowding or glitches in a webpage renders it virtually unusable, and I haven’t yet struck a problem with this one, but an automated CC checkout would be good, rather than internet transfers or paypal for example!
4) Customer Service? Are you happy with the speed of reply and the quality of information?
Given that the website states specific times for which enquiries would be delt with, all replies to my e-mails came back in good time, and usually faster than expected, and were always helpful, even providing links to products I was enquiring about!
5) Any other feedback you want to give
All in all, a good service, good products, not much around in NZ at this end of the market, I’ll be back when ever possible, and I’ll certainly recommend TruemanLTD to others!
Hi Trueman, your pricing is great, and helps keep business in NZ as opposed to people looking offshore. Your range of pedals is great as is your website, which I’ve always found really easy to navigate. There’s no problem with info, enough here to be saciated but not go into info overload. Cool site, and keep up the good work!
Ive purchased a couple of times thru the website. Transactions were simple and delivery was fast. The range of products is good as it fills needed niches and focuses on quality as the first requirement.
Keep up the good work!
1 – Pricing – Very VERY pricey. Not sure how it compares to shipping out directly from websites in the States, even with massive postage costs. But at the end of the day you carry certain brands that appeal to the real gearheads – Lovepedal and Fulltone for example. If people want BOSS/Digitech etc pedals they simply goto the Rockshop. Nuff said.
2 Brands – Well, the more boutique you go, the more the price will rise way beyond a mortals reach! So I think you’ve just about got your market spot on. Infact I think you could probably go a bit more for the middle market aswell. For example, I like that you carry EHX stuff, but they are mostly big-ticket items like the P.O.G… what about carrying Big Muff Pi’s about so forth aswell?
3 Website – I quite like it! It’s clean, succinct, I like the pedal categories on the side. Perhaps all the greys and black etc is a little visually inhibiting – the “mid-grey text on a black background” style in particular may not be the wisest colour palette. But I do like the bright blue links.
4 – Customer Service – Sorry I haven’t dealt with you yet, so it’d be unfair to comment. Hopefully I’ll have some feedback for you in future :)
5 – Another other feedback – Thanks for offering this competition. The voucher thing is a great incentive. Someone gets a ffffffantastic pedal and you get some really honest, constructive feedback/points to improve upon with regards to your business. Win win. Cheers.
